God cannot change in His essence, attributes, or consciousness. He does not go into Odin sleep. He his perfect. there is nothing He could or would change. All His causes are just. for He is absolutely perfect. He can never be wiser or more holy or more just, merciful or truthful. Nor do His plans or purposes change. His course is set by His very nature.
“For I the LORD do not change; therefore you, O sons of Jacob, are not consumed. Mal. 3:6
Every good endowment and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. James 1:17
So when God desired to show more convincingly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeable character of his purpose, he interposed with an oath, Heb. 6:17
Repentance of God
And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. Gen. 6:6 KJV
And also the Glory of Israel will not lie or repent; for he is not a man, that he should repent.” 1 Sam. 15:29
One verse says that God repents the other say that that is something He cannot do.
Hebrew like English has words with more than one meaning or nuance of meaning. Yinnachem is no exception. When man repents he repents of some moral deed. When God repents He repents of some judicial act. His attitude toward sin never changes. Jonah in Nineveh knew that God would forgive the people of Nineveh. He did not change His judgment they changed their behavior.
All this is at odds with the current popular teachings of the Dispensationalist, that there are dispensations where God changes the rules. The Law has passed away according to them but it will come back in a Jewish type Millennium.
Do we then overthrow the law by this faith? By no means! On the contrary, we uphold the law. Rom. 3:31
The Word of God just doesn’t support this teaching. Yes there are dispensation but they are not an indication that the rules have changed. Just the opposite. They start when God gives us more information of His plan and purposes.
- As the Dispensationalist have it God has left the church with no direction and no information about our “age”. It is a giant whole in the prophecy. This is because they have misinterpreted all of The Revelation into some future seven year horror show. It like they never read the first verse.
The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show to his servants what must soon take place; and he made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, Rev. 1:1
Clearly God gave us a map of our entire history. Nothing happens without His foreknowledge and foreordination. The Revelation maps out the history of the Western World. From the rise and fall of Rome in the seals, the Dark Ages of the trumpets, and finally the crumbing modern age in which we live symbolized by the bowls.
God is immutable. He is our Rock. His love and hate and all His other attributes are everlasting.
