The inherited churches pervert the teachings of servanthood. They are into making good little servant of “insert denomination”. There are no prayers, no amount of money, or magic words that will make God give us what we think we want. That is pagan religion. It is paganism that seeks to control the god or gods. It is pagan to try to make the god or gods do the person’s bidding. Unfortunately over the centuries many in the inherited churches have corrupted into this same pattern.
One cannot get a blessing by bribing God with ten present. One cannot get out of the fictional purgatory by doing penance. One simply cannot get saved by reciting the magic words of the sinners prayer.
Many hunger for a more intimate relationship with God. They crave in their hearts a genuine, tangible, unfeigned relationship. They may go from congregation to congregation or they may just stay in the same one their whole lives, thinking that they are the only ones missing something.
Honestly this is the way most so called spiritual leaders want it to be. They want us turning to them, it matters not whether they are doing this for the power, prestige, or money. Their last desire is that their followers should become followers of God and no longer need their leading. They feed the flock just enough to keep them hungry but never completely satisfied. They truly are wolves in sheep’s clothing.
In an authentic relationship with God there is no manipulation. God never manipulates His beloved, nor can we manipulate Him, despite what the inherited churches may say. His love is freely given and our response needs to be just as free. As the old adage goes, “Salvation is free, not cheap, it cost God’s Son His life.”
The truth He is not our sugar daddy, we are His servants, we are supposed to be trustworthy servants, and the prayer he taught was, “Thy will be done”.
. . . not in the way of eye-service, as men-pleasers, but as servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, Eph. 6:6
We must master ourselves and realize that we are His servants. For it is only to His trustworthy servants that he show the mysteries of God.
This is how one should regard us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. 2 Moreover it is required of stewards that they be found trustworthy. 1Cor. 4:1-2
To get to that more authentic relationship one must be first and foremost be trustworthy. He does not show His mysteries to those who are not trustworthy. Just like the growth in human lover’s relationships there must be trust in order to grow. Nothing must be allowed to separate us from the Love of God. We just cannot continue to put anything between us and our Beloved. No preacher, no rules of the churches, no traditions of men.
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Rom. 8:35
Only we ourselves can cause a separation, by being unfaithful, and unfortunately that is often what the spiritual leaders want. They want us to feel bad, to feel we must do more, that we are not adequate, or don’t deserve a fulfilling relationship with our God. They substitute the traditions of men for the laws of God, Sunday Church, Christmas, Easter, Icons, and Idols, none of these are truly satisfying, for they are pagan in origin and not from the Bible. Let the pagans have these things back. We are called to be faithful to our God, not the church or the spiritual leader. There is to be “no King but Jesus”.
See to it that no one makes a prey of you by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the universe, and not according to Christ. Col. 2:8
We all know that we should leave the parson at the altar when we leave for our earthly honeymoon. But we never stop to consider that in our walk with God that there will be times that we also must walk alone with Him. Many have come to feel that they are inadequate to walk with God on their own.
Just like in human marriage, faithfulness is a choice. From that first moment when the trust between the two people is sufficient to touch lips. When two people are no longer just friends, yet not quite lovers. All that a relationship will be, starts its growth from that moment. If there is enough trust, it can sustain a life time of love. However too many trust in the teachings of men.
If we truly want that authentic relationship we are going to have to trust. Trust that there is a resurrection, trust that there is a New Jerusalem/Zion, trust that come what may He will come for us, His bride.
Building the Trust
I’d like to say buy my book on The Song of Songs, but the truth is that is not for everybody. The Song of Songs is a three thousand year old erotic love poem and it is not for everyone. There needs to be a certain amount of maturity for that great mystery. However there are a great many mysteries hidden though out the Bible. For it is the greatest love story ever written. Most never avail themselves of its secrets, and never obtain that ever elusive authentic relationship. They are too busy pleasing some human convention. They do what their spiritual leaders have told them to do. However that is not the way. We were never to have such leaders.
25 But Jesus called them to him and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great men exercise authority over them. It shall not be so among you; but whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be your slave; even as the Son of man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Matt. 20:25-28
Spiritual leaders more often then not lord over the people. This only gets in the way of the authentic relationship. He wrote down everything that He wanted us to know in the Bible. If our human lover wrote us some great tome declaring their love, we would surly read every word. We would show it off to others. We would hold every word in our hearts. The King of the Universe wrote of His great love, His desire for an intimate relationship with us individually.
His kiss is on our lips, let the trust grow.
You can only go into the King’s Chambers alone.
